Ann Bittenbender - In Memoriam

November 25, 2009 - Ann Bittenbender, an icon in the United States Twirling Association and the World Baton Twirling Federation, passed away on November 21.

Ann coached many U.S. and World Champions, including the 4-time World Champion Team from Italy.

She served the USTA as a Board Member, as U.S. Technical Advisor, and as U.S. Technical Committee Chair. She pioneered USTA’s set system and was one of the people instrumental in the development of the USTA's Competitive/Achievement Program.

Ann was a former WBTF World Technical Advisor Chairperson, developed the first WBTF Judging Exams, and was instrumental in the development of the World Baton Twirling Championships as we know them today.

Visitation will be held at Gasch Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave. in Hyasttsville, MD on Friday, November 27th between 6:00-8:30 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28th at 11:00 am also at Gasch followed by a graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
