Reason for Restructuring of Twirl Corps

When the CBTF decided to change the name of Twirl Corps to CBTF GROUP, it was because our Twirl Corps event was so similar in construction, number of members, demands & focuses that it would be redundant to offer two events so similar.  CBTF also wanted to provide an event for coaches who wish to introduce their athletes to the WBTF Team/Group event.  It was further decided that we would offer 3 levels – C, B and A and the 3 Age Divisions (Juvenile, Junior & Senior) for the CBTF Group event.

Scoring System & Judging Tools

At the time of approving this, no direction was given as to which scoring proficiency scale would be used for this event (the old Twirl Corps or the current CBTF Team) and which judging tools would be used.

Advancement Scores

CBTF had also determined that Twirl Corps members would “transfer” their Individual Group Statuses directly over to CBTF Group (eg: if an athlete was B twirl corps status, she/he would become B CBTF Group status).  To get a 60 in CBTF Group (especially for former Twirl Corps athletes) would be very difficult leading to the possibility that we won’t have any Level A CBTF Groups at all (at least for this season).

CONCLUSION

After much deliberation, Ron & I decided to issue the above Directive for the 2009 competitive season regarding CBTF GROUPS ONLY. It is our belief that this will keep the IGS and the qualifications for B and A aligned with the proficiency we expected in those events in the past. NOTE:  This will be an agenda item at the next Technical Committee Meeting for further discussion & to determine a permanent procedure.
