DIRECTIVE: Provincial & Canadian Team Trial Events 2009
Provinces shall choose whether to follow the same format as Canadians 2009 (ie: run all team trial events separately) or hold a Provincial Team Trials (ie: combine scores).
Should a province decide to run Provincial Team Trials (ie: combining scores) please ensure that your members realize that it is only a provincial event - it will not be used to "qualify" an athlete or pair for Canadians.
Also, our rules state that, in order for an athlete to enter the Level B Freestyle and/or Pair event at Canadians, they must have competed at their own provincials in the same year - this will still apply. This same pre-requisite would apply for our Level A Freestyles and Pairs. (Certainly, extenuating circumstances would be considered if an athlete had to miss their provincials - please contact the CBTF Technical Chair if this should happen).
It is not necessary that an athlete has competed in his/her provincial compulsories or short program in 2009 in order to enter them at Canadians.
It is permissible for athletes to enter Level A (WBTF) compulsories and Level B Freestyle (or vice versa) at Canadians should they wish to do so. (this is in consideration of our International Cup athletes who must perform the WBTF Compulsories in Sydney).
