November 29, 2014 - The use of grip tape on batons has continued to increase over the past 20 years. Pretty much every 'legitimate' sport that uses an 'apparatus' (tennis, hockey, baseball, lacrosse, rhythmic gymnastics, golf, etc) has rules governing that apparatus. This has not been done for baton twirling.
The World Baton Twirling Federation is interested in hearing coaches' and athletes' opinions regarding the use of grip tape and on the baton itself so that a policy can be developed.
We have prepared a brief online survey for coaches and athletes to gather input from our membership. Please take a few minutes to tell us what you think: Grip Tape Survey [1]
The survey is anonymous. It will be up until December 7 - then we will compile the results and submit to the WBTF so the topic can be discussed at their Winter Meeting.
