February 1, 2016 - The attached tracking sheet, contributed by Tracy Eyssens, is being provided for all Technical Members to use to record their Continuing Professional Development activities during this interim period until these can be tracked directly in the CBTF Membership Database.

At the WBTF 2015 Summer Meeting, a change to Element Number 1 (Grand Jeté) of the Short Program was approved. I am bringing this to the attention of all Coaches and Judges as this change will be implemented immediately and will be in effect for the 2015-16 competitive season - all CBTF and WBTF competitions, including Team Trials and the World Championships.

A number of coaches have spoken with me and worried about the judging of our events.

Their concern is: Many athletes’ have been on the cusp of moving up to 2.5, 4.0, and 6.0. for a number of times but have been held back for a long time.

Another situation: An athlete had just moved up one level, because of a perfect performance, but on the next competition had a poor performance yet received the same score. It is all right to score below the level, if you felt they did not compare with the role model and range descriptions for that level on that day.

An important component of the CBTF Judge Certification process is the Practice Judging that a candidate is required to complete. The supervising judge in that practice judging experience plays a significant role in that process.

This CBTF Policy regarding Practice Judge Supervisors was adopted at the 2013 CBTF Fall Conference.

Revised September 2013.

A 'quick reference' summary of the tie-breaking process for the WBTF events is attached. It is meant as a summary tool, not as a replacement for a proper understanding of the CBTF technical rulebook.

This quick reference shows the tie-breaking requirements for different levels of competition.
