January 30, 2009 - Four Baton Twirling coaches have been nominated for the Chunky MVC: Most Valuable Coach award, sponsored by TSN, Campbell's Soup and the Coaching Association of Canada. The 'nomination phase' of the contest closed on January 29, 2009. The coaches nominated are:

• Ashley Bowes [1] (Dartmouth, NS)
• Maureen Johnson [2] (Regina, SK)
• Solange St-Coeur [3] (Neguac, NB)
• LeeAnn Wilson [4] (Oshawa, ON)

Nominations will now be evaluated by representatives from the Coaches' Association of Canada, Campbell's and TSN. Each entry will be judged according to the entrant’s response to the Evaluation Question ("How does this coach show true dedication and make a real impact on and off the field?") and any comments posted to the coaches gallery, having regard to the following criteria (which will be weighed equally):

• the coach’s initiative to enhance his/her coaching knowledge and abilities;
• the coach’s commitment and loyalty to his/her team;
• the coach’s influence on the lives of his/her players and the community;
• and the coach’s impact on his/her team’s performance.

Four finalists will be selected and a public voting phase, beginning on March 2, 2009, will be used to select the final winner.
