  Debbie Nikolai moved that we accept Darlene Corbett's proposal on Critique Sheets and Flash Cards in principle and that she develop a written proposal to be presented at the 1986 Annual Technical Meeting.

  Bev Latrace moved that, given the CBTF supports the Flash Card System in principle, that in 1987, flash card judging be made optional for provincial associations to implement, with a review to be conducted at the 1987 Summer Technical Meeting.

 

1987 FTM MOTION #32
  That any province wishing to use the Flashcard System on a trial basis for any advanced events at provincial, regional and national levels, must use the current USTA Flashcard System until a CBTF system is approved.

  Donna Robertson moved that we recommend to the CBTF Board of Directors that the Flashcard System be ratified at the 1989 CBTF Annual General Meeting.

  Donna Robertson moved that a mandatory implementation date of the Flashcard System be in place at all contests as of January 1, 1990, be recommended to the CBTF Board of Directors.

  Tim King moved that the CBTF Flashcard Scoring System be effective for all CBTF competitions as of January 1, 1990 (excluding WBTF Semi-Trials which uses the WBTF Scoring System).

Pat Stevenson moved that the following procedure for Flashcard Judging at all CBTF competitions will be:

  1. Each event will have 2 copies of the Master Sheet with names of athletes on it at the judge's table.
  2. Scores will be flashed after each athlete, but score sheets will be kept by the judge until the end of the division.
  3. Judge and clerk will check each Master at the end of the division to make sure both copies of Masters are the same. One Master and the score sheets will then be given to the Tabulation Room.
  4. Score sheets are then picked up by the athletes at the awards table.
  5. At least one set must be free immediately following the division.
  6. It is recommended that the Announcer ensures all judges are ready before asking judges to show scores and allowing the music to start for the next set.

  Nancy Beachin moved that the Flashcard Grading System only be used when there are 30 or more competitors, to determine the Top 15 athletes. In Semi-finals the point system be used to determine the Top 7.

Shannon Gadjos proposed that flashcard holders, score sheets and clerks be eliminated for individual/duet events at Canadian Winner/Championship Events.

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #8 from the 2001 Winter Technical Meeting which reads:

That, on a trial basis for the 2001 Canadians Level B & A Individual/Duet Winner/Championships, all scores in the Final Rounds and in Grand Nationals will not be flashed.

DIRECTIVE: To be reviewed at the 2001 Fall Technical Meeting.

Karen Gratton moved that we accept Proposal #6 from the 2003 WTM which reads as follows:

That scores shall be flashed for Final Rounds at Canadian Individual/Duet Winner/Championship Events.

 

Feb 4/07 Board Conf Call MOTION #2
 

Karen Gratton moved to accept the proposed Seven-Day Schedule for the 2007 Canadian Championships as a Pilot Project (ie: experiment) and as per recommendations developed by Karen Gratton and Loranne Meek. The following changes to current Canadians Procedure will be also accepted within the Pilot Project:

  • Number of placings announced and presented for Individual/Duet Events will be reduced to FIVE.
  • There will only be one Procession of Athletes on the first day of the schedule - all other days will begin with the National Anthem only.
  • No flashcard scoring will be used for the Individual/Duet Events and Grand National Championships at the 2007 Canadians (exception: Open Competition.).
  • The practice gym will be rented to other provinces during Music Tests.

INTENT: A review of this Schedule will be conducted after the 2007 Canadians by Karen and Loranne with input from the Technical Committee and Board of Directors.

 

2007 FBM MOTION #40
 

Karen moved that Proposal #18 of the 2007 Summer Technical Meeting be accepted as follows:

That flashcard scoring at Canadian Championships will be done for the following:

    • Team Trials
    • Level B Freestyle & Pairs Competition
    • Preliminary rounds for Winner/Championship Events
    • Open Individual/Duet Competition
    • International Cup Qualifier

INTENT: Flashcards will not be used for Winner/Championship Finals, W/C Groups and all Grand National Events.

  Karen Gratton moved that competition officials for Provincial and Open competitions shall make the decision whether scores at their competition shall be flashed or not.

Elan Paluck moved that, for all Provincial and National Winner/ Championship events, scores will be flashed for all preliminary and final rounds. Group and Grand National scores will not be flashed. Scores for non-graded Open events held in conjunction with Provincial and National events will be flashed.
