Canadian Nations Cup & World Championship Athletes will participate in the Team Canada Secret Pal Exchange!

The objective is to foster team spirit and to help your Secret Pal feel happy, motivated and part of the team through little gifts, notes, cards, positive phrases, pictures etc.

Secret Pals will be assigned by our Team Managers, Steven Kopas and Nancy Lightheart. Don't tell anyone who your Secret Pal is - try and keep it a secret until the final exchange on August 8!

April 1, 2023 - Today the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation is pleased to announce the Team Mangers for the Canadian Contingent to the IBTF Nations Cup and World Championship competitions in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Steven Kopas and Nancy Lightheart have been selected as the Nations Cup Team Managers. Steven Kopas will also be the Team Manager for the IBTF World Championship.

Both Steven and Nancy have backgrounds making them very well-suited for the Team Manager roles.

March 5, 2023 - Dana Peteleski, CBTF Technical Chair, today announced the result of the compulsory draw for the 2023 Canadian Winner/Championship, in the Level BI Freestyle division.

As part of the athlete accreditation process, the CBTF requires that all athletes provide a Health Certificate indicating they are in generally good health and are fit to compete.

The Competitive and Pre-Competitive Opportunities and Phases charts that were developed by the CBTF Technical Committee and approved by the Board of Directors in September 2020 have been adopted on a permanent basis.

Note – All disciplines can be offered at these competitions provided organizers follow Provincial Health Guidelines and Provincial Return to Sport Stages/Phases/Restrictions (i.e. pair/duet and/or group events cannot be offered if your province is not in that phase of return to sport).

Updated October 20, 2022 - CBTF continues to monitor the impact of the Coronavirus on public events as it affects us during our competition season.

The 2022 Canadian Team Trials (Regina, SK) and the 2022 Canadian Winner/Championship (Moncton, NB) competitions were held in their usual form. The World Baton Twirling Federation (WBTF) held its 2022 World Championship in Turin, Italy.

At the 2022 Fall Conference, the Board of Directors rescinded the CBTF COVID Protocol for National Competitions, effective immediately.

The CBTF Technical Committee has approved an update to the CBTF Long-Term Athlete Development model. This model is based on the Canadian Sport Centre’s Long Term Development Model. In each phase, the Model relates the athlete's development stage to their participation in the sport.

This model is a very useful guide for coaches, athletes, and parents.
