April 19, 2009 - Last chance to buy your DVDs of the 29th WBTF World Baton Twirling Championships and 4th International Cup which were held in Limerick, Ireland 2008.

As part of the athlete accreditation process, the WBTF requires that all athletes provide a Health Certificate indicating they are in generally good and is fit to compete.

The official CBTF Health Certificate is attached. It should be completed and signed by a physician and the original should be sent to Steve Kopas, Contingent Manager.
 

The Canadian Tracksuit Order form is attached. All athletes and coaches that are members of the IC 2009 Contingent are required to have and wear the official Team Canada jacket & pants at selected functions in Sydney.

Please refer to the Mee Sports Sizing Chart to determine your proper size.

 

Steve is coordinating the Secret Pal program for the athletes that are part of the IC 2009 Contingent.

Please review the attached document for an outline of the program and complete and submit the Information Sheet to Steve.

As Contingent Manager, Steve is collecting some personal and health information that he needs to be aware of.

CBTF is pleased to announce that the following CBTF Certified Judges have been chosen for the 2009 Canadian Championships in Edmonton, Alberta:

March 30, 2009 - Five athletes representing the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation competed at the recent Congressional Cup 2009 Invitational competition held at Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

CBTF is happy to announce that 150 rooms of various sizes and very reasonable prices are available at the Grant MacEwan College Residences during Canadians. The Residences are located within convenient walking distance to the College and are close to many restaurants and amenities in downtown Edmonton.

March 10, 2009 - Neil Sochasky is now touring in Europe with the Dance Company O Vertigo in the production La Chambre Blanche (www.overtigo.com).

February 24, 2008 - The Coaches Association of Ontario (COA) celebrated eight outstanding coaches from all levels of sport at the 2009 Coaching Excellence Awards this past weekend. LeeAnn Wilson, of the Camaros Baton Club in Oshawa, was the recipient of the COA Coaching Excellence Award in the Developmental Category.

For the year 2009, the CBTF will permit provincial associations to hire certified United States Twirling Association (USTA) Judges for their open and provincial competitions providing the following conditions are met:

January 30, 2009 - Four Baton Twirling coaches have been nominated for the Chunky MVC: Most Valuable Coach award, sponsored by TSN, Campbell's Soup and the Coaching Association of Canada. The 'nomination phase' of the contest closed on January 29, 2009. The coaches nominated are:

January 26, 2009 - The two judges selected to represent Canada at the 2009 International Cup in Sydney, Australia will be Brenda Cooper and Lucinda McMaster.

Both are fully-certified WBTF Masters Judges, certified to judge all WBTF International Cup events. In addition Brenda Cooper is also a certifed WBTF Clinician.

January 26, 2009 - Kayla McKinnon and Sara Thibeault, both of Regina, have been named Finalists for the 2008 Saskatchewan Athlete of the Year Awards, in the Team category. The Saskatchewan Sport Awards include the 2008 Athlete of the Year Awards, Saskatchewan Coaching Awards, and Saskatchewan Volunteer Recognition Awards. The awards will be presented on

January 22, 2009 - Being on the national team and representing Canada at the World Championships is a dream come true for many twirlers. Being able to realize this dream does not come without many challenges, personal sacrifices and financial hardships.

January 1, 2009 – The Canadian Baton Twirling Federation is pleased to announce that Go Away Travel (Calgary) has been selected as its official travel sponsor, effective immediately and through July 31, 2010.

Under this sponsorship agreement, CBTF as well as its members and friends will all directly benefit. Go Away Travel will return a portion of the commission generated from each booking to the party paying for the reservation. This means that individuals, using their CBTF Go Away Travel Referral, will be able to directly reduce the cost of their travel. CBTF will also receive a portion of the commission generated from all referred bookings.
