2009 CBTF Sharp Baton Company Scholarship Awarded

July 1, 2009 - At the 2009 Canadian Baton Twirling Championships, Joanne Moser, CBTF First Vice-President, presented the first CBTF Sharp Baton Company Scholarship. The Sharp Baton Company has made a donation to CBTF to be used for an athlete's award.  At the 2008 Fall Board Meeting, the CBTF Board decided to use these funds to offer a scholarship to assist a competing athlete who is balancing the demands of post-secondary education with the demands of training.

All athletes in this situation were encouraged to complete an application. The applicant was selected based on her personal excellence, amount of time given to the sport, and community involvement.

This is the first time the CBTF has been able to offer a cash scholarship of any kind, and we thank Mark Sharp for the donation and CBTF for matching the donation. The CBTF's first ever scholarship recipient is Samantha Snell. She is a full-time student in health studies at Queen's University.
