Alternate Members
Latest Revision: August 2023
THE CBTF GROUP ALTERNATE POLICY
- If needed, an alternate member may be drawn from within the group’s own club or province providing there is no form of solicitation for athletes.
- The group’s status level must remain the same.
- The age of the alternate cannot change the age division of the group.
- An alternate of a competitive group must be a current CBTF Type A member.
- The maximum number of alternates a CBTF group can have is 40% of the competing twirling members. The 40% calculation must be rounded to the nearest whole number as follows:
- 3 members x 40% = 1.2 = 1 alternate
- 4 members x 40% = 1.6 = 2 alternates
- 5 members x 40% = 2.0 = 2 alternates
- 6 members x 40% = 2.4 = 2 alternates; etc.
- A group athlete cannot compete against her/himself therefore a group athlete cannot be a member of a CBTF group in the same event, status, size and division in any capacity (regular member or alternate). Exception: Grand Nationals
MINOR GROUP EVENTS (ie: Pre-Competitive Groups, Pom Pom Teams)
It is not necessary to designate alternate members; the coach/director would simply list that person’s name on entry forms as a regular member for that specific open competition.
MAJOR GROUP EVENTS
- It is not necessary to include names/information (ie: names, ages, birthdates & membership numbers) of any alternates on the Team/Group Roster unless the alternate will actually be replacing a regular member and competing (see Policy above).
- The names listed on a provincial competition’s Group Roster shall be the members who will also compete at the Canadian Team/Group Winner/Championship. Alternate members’ names/information must be included on the Provincial Winner/Championship competition’s Group Roster in order to be eligible to replace a regular member and compete.
- Any alternates listed on the Group Roster for a CBTF sanctioned competition must pay the entry fee in order to receive the award.
TRANS-CANADA AND PROVINCIAL DUETS, PAIRS, TEAMS/GROUPS
A duet, pair, or team/group athlete cannot be a regular member or alternate in a Trans-Canada and a provincial event in the same level, age division and size in the same year. Exception: Grand National
