Judge Certification Procedures

The CBTF Technical Association consists of the following members who purchase a Type T1 (Technical members with voting privileges) or T2 (Technical members under 18 with no voting privileges) membership annually.
- SDP Adjudicators
- Coaches
- Judges
- Course Conductors (see COURSE CONDUCTOR SELECTION PROCEDURES)
NOTE: Collegiate (18+) athletes shall be permitted to judge within their certification without having to discontinue competitive twirling. The following restrictions shall apply to the certified judge:
- Cannot judge senior and collegiate divisions
- Cannot judge athletes they have competed against in the previous three seasons
- Must judge only at local closed and open competitions during the time they are still competing
- Cannot judge at a competition where they are entered as a competitor
DIVISION ONE JUDGE
- is certified to judge all Pre-Competitive Events
DIVISION TWO JUDGE
- is certified to judge all Individual and Duet Competitive Events (*Compulsory Moves to be added) up to and including National Winner/Championship Events (see below re IBTF competitions).
- are required to update these courses every four years (currently being reviewed)
DIVISION THREE JUDGE
- is certified to judge all Group Competitive Events up to and including National Winner/Championship Events (see below re IBTF competitions).
DIVISION FOUR JUDGE “PRE-MASTERS”

WBTF MASTER JUDGE
- is certified to judge all IBTF Competitive Events up to and including IBTF Nations Cup, World Baton Twirling Championship and IBTF World Freestyle & Rhythmic Twirl Championship.
- WBTF requires that Master Judges must attend an approved updating session at least once every four years.
- An “approved updating session” shall be at least four hours in length devoted to WBTF events and must be conducted by a WBTF Master Clinician.
