Judging Fees

1987 SEM MOTION #8
  Ron Kopas moved that gratuity be paid to the judges for the 1987 Canadian Team Trials.

 

1988 FTM MOTION #10
  That the judging fee be a minimum of $10.00 per hour.

 

1989 SBM MOTION #10
  Tim King moved that Contest Directors must check for current CBTF Judges Registration Card. If the certified judge is not registered then the Judges Registration Fee must be obtained from the Contest Director who will then subtract this fee from the judge's earnings.

 

1992 STM MOTION #17 (RATIFIED - 1992 SBM - MOTION #27)
  Theresa Eyssens moved that a national standard be set concerning an overtime rate to be paid to judges that amounts to time and a half for any hours over 10 hours on a daily basis.

 

1992 STM MOTION #18 (RATIFIED - 1992 SBM - MOTION #27)
  Theresa Eyssens moved that all judges be paid for any mandatory judges meetings at all competitions. All sanctioned competitions must hold a judges' meeting of a minimum of ½ hour (judges warm up meeting).

 

1992 STM MOTION #19 (RATIFIED - 1992 SBM - MOTION #27)
  Theresa Eyssens moved that all judges be paid for any freestyle critique meeting.

 

1992 SBM MOTION #10
 

Debbie Nikolai moved that expenses and honourarium be paid to Canadian Team Trial Judges as per the attached schedule effective 1992:

  • All hotel costs are based on double occupancy.
  • The total number of hotel nights paid will not exceed four.
  • Meals supplied will be deducted from per diem.
  • When a judge is present at the event because they are also prov. head or tech rep, the travel expense will be shared by CBTF and the province responsible (1/2 airfare or mileage). CBTF will be responsible for the other expenses as outlined above.
  • If judging compulsories or team only, airfare is not paid.

 

1993 STM MOTION #18 (RATIFIED - 1993 SBM - MOTION #18)
  Brenda Cooper moved that all CBTF certified/registered Judges be paid at a minimum rate of $11.00 per hour. Effective August 1, 1993.

 

1993 STM MOTION #19 (AMENDED & RATIFIED - 1993 SBM - MOTION #27)
 

Brenda Cooper moved that all CBTF certified/registered Judges be paid an overtime rate of 1 ½ times the regular rate ($11.00/hr. minimum) after eight hours.

1993 STM MOTION #21 (AMENDED & RATIFIED - 1993 SBM - MOTION #28)
  Brenda Cooper moved that all CBTF certified/registered Judges working on Provincial Championships/Provincial Team Trials be paid at a rate of $12.00 per hour. Overtime rates applicable.

 

1993 STM MOTION #22 (AMENDED & RATIFIED - 1993 SBM -MOTION #29) (AMENDED - 2004 FBM - MOTION #3)
  Brenda Cooper moved that all CBTF certified/registered Judges hired to judge the Canadian Championships/Canadian Team Trials be paid a rate of $15.00 per hour.

 

1994 FTM MOTION #22 (AMENDED & RATIFIED - 1994 FBM - MOTION #23)
 

That all overtime rates for CBTF Judges be removed. An exception may be made if a competition runs for more than ten hours on a given day and the judge and competition director have agreed on additional fees at the time of signing the contract.

1996 FTM PROPOSAL #14 (AMENDED & RATIFIED – 1996 FBM – MOTION #13)
 

Loranne Meek proposed that the following set fees be established for Canadian Team Trial Judges:

$100 Junior Women
$25 Junior Men
$100 Senior Women
$25 Senior Men
$25 Compulsory Event
$75 Junior Pair
$75 Senior Pair
$100 Team

CLARIFICATION: This fee includes attendance at all meetings and critiques.

Judges would receive a $25.00/day per diem ($6.00 Breakfast; $7.00 Lunch; $12 Dinner). Full airfare/transportation, accommodation costs would be paid by the host province. To be reviewed on an annual basis.

Effective January 1, 1997

 

1998 FBM MOTION #13
 

Karen Gratton moved that the Canadian Team Trial Judges Set Fee be increased as follows:

  • $ 50.00 each Junior/Senior Compulsories
  • $ 25.00 each Junior/Senior Men
  • $ 75.00 each Junior/Senior Pairs
  • $125.00 each Junior/Senior Women
  • $100.00 Teams

Fee includes attendance at all meetings and critiques if meals are not provided. Judges would receive a $25.00 maximum per diem ($6-breakfast; $7-lunch; $12-dinner). Receipts must be provided. The event host would paid airfare/transportation and accommodation costs. To be reviewed on an annual basis.

INTENT: These are maximum figures. It was not the intent to pay the full amount if, for example, there was only one male athlete in the division.

Effective January 1, 1999

 

2002 SBM MOTION #3
 

Lynn Opperman moved that the CBTF Judges at Canadians be paid their judging fees at the completion of their judging assignment. The miscellaneous fees (eg: taxis, meals, etc) to be tallied and checked by the CBTF Treasurer and then the cheque will be mailed out to the judges. Under no circumstance will monies be paid out unless receipts have been handed into the CBTF Treasurer.

2003 SBM MOTION #24
 

Betty Davis moved that judges at Canadian Team Trials and the Open Competition will be paid their judging fees and all miscellaneous expenses (eg: taxis, meals, etc) as soon after these competitions are complete. Judges at the Canadian Championships will be paid their judging fees and all miscellaneous expenses (eg: taxis, meals, etc) within 7 days from the completion of the competition.

INTENT: It is assumed that the competition will run 1. Team trials; 2. Open; 3. Championships. Should the order change the payment plan order will change.

 

2008 FEM MOTION #4
  Joanne Moser moved that, in following up from Item 6, 2008 Summer Board Meeting (re: payment of judging fees at 08 Canadians), the President be directed to write a letter to explain the consequences of failing to follow through with a request from the President and provide an opportunity for the request to be fulfilled.

 

2008 FBM MOTION #26
 

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #4 from the 2008 FTM that reads:

That the hourly fees for CBTF Judges be raised to:

Open - $13.00
Provincials - $14.00
Nationals - $17.00

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #5 from the 2008 FTM that reads:

That all judges at competitions held at Canadian Championships be paid the same hourly rate.

CLARIFICATION: This includes Canadian Team Trials, level B Freestyle/Pair competition, Winner/Championship individual, duet & group events and Open Competition.

2008 FBM MOTION #28
 

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #6 of the 2008 FTM that reads:

That the fee structure for judges at Canadian Championships be changed to a daily rate that would include per diem and judging fees based on the CBTF approved rate that is currently in effect.

2008 FBM MOTION #48
 

Karen Gratton moved that the "Part Day Rate" for Judges at Canadians will be the current Canadians' hourly judging fee. Should a meal(s) be required during this time period, the CBTF per diem rate shall apply.

CLARIFICATION: Definition of "Part Day" shall be 4 hours or less.
