Level B Freestyle & Pair Competition

Karen Gratton moved that a Canadian Level B Freestyle and Pairs Competition be run during Canadians. This will be offered for Junior and Senior divisions in both events. In order to qualify athletes/pairs must have competed at their provincials in those events in the B category. Compulsory moves will not be done - only freestyle and pair routines.
Clarification: Further details to be determined by the CBTF Executive.

Karen Gratton moved Proposal #16 of the 2007 Summer Technical Meeting be accepted as follows:
That the rounds for the Level B Freestyle and Pairs Competition held at Canadians be changed to the following:
- 15 or less athletes/pairs - 1 round only
- 16 or more athletes/pairs - 50% shall advance to the finals

That Flashcard scoring at Canadian Championships will be done for the following:
- Team Trials
- Level B Freestyle & Pairs Competition Preliminary Rounds for Winner/Championship events
- Open Individual/Duet Competition
- International Cup Qualifier
INTENT: Flashcards will not be used for Winner/Championship finals, W/C groups and all Grand National events.

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #14, 2008 FTM that reds:
That the rounds for Level B Freestyle and Pairs Competition held at Canadians be changed to the following:
- 15 or less athletes/pairs - 1 round only - random order
- 16 or more athletes/pairs - 50% (to a maximum of 15) shall advance to the final round - random order within the seed.
DIRECTIVE: The Level B Competition Procedures document to be revised to reflect this change.

To have five judges on Level B Freestyle and Pair Panels at Canadians so that the high and low scores will be dropped.

That Level B Compulsories be offered as a separate experimental event at the 2009 Canadian Championships.
INTENT: To be reviewed at the 2009 Fall Technical Meeting.

Karen Gratton moved that the timing penalty for all Freestyles and Pairs at the 2009 Canadian Team Trial Winner/Championship Event will be reduced from 4.0 to 1.0 point.
CLARIFICATION: The WBTF penalty of 4.0 is disproportionately wrong in relation to the severity of the infraction.
CLARIFICATION: CBTF President to discuss this at the WBTF summer meetings in Australia with a recommendation that WBTF review all penalties.

Karen Gratton moved to adopt STM Proposal #2 which reads as follows:
- That CBTF shall offer Freestyle/Compulsories/Short Program/Pairs at the Canadian Winner/Championships
- That level A athletes shall compete under WBTF age divisions
- That level B athletes shall compete under CBTF age divisions
- That Freestyle shall be combined with Compulsories/Short Program, following WBTF tabulation procedures
- That level A and B Freestyle & Pairs shall follow the same procedure for Preliminary and Final rounds, and that this be the same procedure as for other CBTF individual events
- That there are no Grand Nationals for the Level A Freestyle or Pairs Champions
- That awards for the Level A & B Freestyle & Pairs follow the same procedure as for other CBTF Individual events
