New Member Provinces

Sept 16/07 Exec Conf Call MOTION #2
  Loranne Meek moved that, if such a meeting is deemed necessary by the CBTF Executive, the CBTF President and CBTF 2nd Vice President be provided with funds to travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia in the fall of 2007 to meet with persons interested in forming a CBTF member province organization and to assist them in achieving this.

Loranne Meek moved to accept the Province of Quebec as a member of CBTF with the following provisions, rules and guidelines:

  1. That Quebec's Constitution and Bylaws as presented in French. The translation of these documents will be the financial responsibility of Quebec (FQBS).
  2. That Quebec's Non-Profit Society Status Certificate has been applied for and will be mailed to Gail Ashcroft, CBTF President, upon receipt from the Quebec provincial government.
  3. That no provincial affiliation fees are due at this time. The current affiliation rules for new provinces will be reviewed at the 2008 summer board of directors meeting.
  4. The Quebec President and Technical Chairperson may attend all CBTF meetings with speaking/non-voting privileges.
  5. Athletes can participate in any sanctioned CBTF competition or event.
  6. Athletes can represent their province at national events - Quebec athletes will qualify at the 2008 Ontario Provincial Team Trials and Championships. They will qualify separately from Ontario athletes.
  7. Athletes will have insurance coverage and be recognized as provisional members of CBTF in 2008-2009.
  8. Quebec will be accepted with CBTF Full Member Status at the 2009 Summer Board of Directors Meeting. This grace period is necessary to allow for document translation into Canada's two official languages as well as to align Quebec's documents with CBTF Constitution and Bylaws which are currently being revised.

  Loranne Meek moved that CBTF provide the province of Quebec with $2000 for basic start-up costs and funds to promote the sport within their province.

 

2009 SBM MOTION #10
  Karen Gratton moved to maintain Quebec's status as provisional for the 2009-2010 year.

 

2010 SBM MOTION 12a
 

Karen Gratton moved that Federation Quebecoise Baton Sportif (FQBS) be accepted as a Full Member province within the CBTF.

2012 FBM MOTION #11
  Janice Larkin moved that $5,000 be allocated from the Equity Investment Fund to assist with sport outreach/promotion activities in new and developing provinces.

 

2013 Fall Conference MOTION #32
 

I move that CBTF accept the Province of Nova Scotia as a member of CBTF with the following provisions, rules and guidelines:

  1. The Nova Scotia Twirling Association (NSTA) President and Technical Chairperson may attend all CBTF meetings with speaking/non-voting privileges.
  2. Nova Scotia will be accepted with CBTF Full Member Status at the 2014 Fall Conference. This grace period is necessary to allow the organization to become familiar with CBTF rules, regulations and procedures.
  3. Athletes can participate in any sanctioned CBTF Competition or Event.
  4. Athletes will have insurance coverage and be recognized as provisional members of CBTF in 2013-14.
  5. Athletes can represent their province at national events.
  6. NSTA will receive a refund on 2013-14 fees from NS-based Direct Members, equivalent to the Membership fee less the CBTF portion and an allowance for the June 2014 Affiliation Fee.

2014 AGM MOTION #1
 

Jeff moved to accept the Province of Nova Scotia as a Full Member Province of the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation as of September 7, 2014 with the following provisions and rights:

  1. That Nova Scotia’s Non-Profit Society Status Certificate has been received and a copy to be forwarded to the CBTF President.
  2. The Nova Scotia Chairperson and Technical Chairperson may attend all CBTF meetings with full speaking and voting privileges.
  3. Nova Scotia’s registered athletes may participate in all CBTF sanctioned competitions and events.
  4. Nova Scotia’s registered athletes may represent their province at CBTF national competitions.
  5. Nova Scotia shall have its own provincial membership form and fees commencing in the 2015-16 season and members shall continue to have insurance coverage through CBTF Direct Membership.

Michelle moved that CBTF provide the Province of Nova Scotia with $2000 for basic start-up costs and funds to promote the sport within their province.

DIRECTIVE: Nova Scotia to provide a report at the 2015 AGM.
