1982 FEM MOTION #??
  That, in 1983, at the National World Baton Twirling Federation Finals, the first round will consist of the athletes performing compulsories and Freestyle routines. Fifteen athletes with the highest combined scores will proceed to the second round.

 

1982 FEM MOTION #??
  That in the second round the 15 athletes will perform only the Freestyle routine. The compulsory score from the first round will be added to the score of the second round freestyle. The freestyle score from the first round will not be counted.

  In the third round the top 7 athletes will re-compete in freestyle. Final placement is determined by the following: Score of 3rd round freestyle, score of 2nd round freestyle, score of 1st round compulsories.

When multiple judges are used, the following formula would be used: Place points, score points, place points of twirl, score points of twirl.

 

1984 FEM MOTION #32
 

Ron Kopas moved that tabulation will be:

  • compulsories 25%
  • 1st round freestyle qualifying round only for top 15
  • 2nd round and final round freestyle scores will be averaged to make 75%

  That compulsories are worth 25% and carried through to final round staying at 25%. 1st round freestyle is only for qualifying of top 15 but worth 75%. And added to 25% of compulsories for qualifying the top 15. 2nd round of top 15 will be freestyle 75%, compulsories 25% from first round to select top seven. 3rd round tabulation will be for those who made the top seven - 75% of 3rd round and 75% of semi-finals which is 2nd round averaged together to make 75%. Add that to 25% of the original compulsories for final tabulation of top 3.

  Carrie McKitrick moved that all four teams compete twice - place points to be used in both rounds - if tie with total place points, total score of both rounds will determine the final place.

  Myra Kirk moved that when 3 or more judges are used (eg: Canadian Individual/Duet Winner & Championship rounds, Individual/Duet Grand Nationals), the majority of firsts takes precedence over place points. Should a tie occur, place points shall be added and if a tie still exists, then scores will be added.

46(a) Jennifer Meron moved that for one trial year, the tabulation method for corps will be place points awarded in each of the captions. Lowest place points wins. In case of a tie, highest total score would break the tie.

46(b) Twirl time penalties to be deducted from Twirl caption.

46(c) Overall time penalty to be deducted from GE caption.

46(d) Prop Handling time penalty to be deducted from Prop Handling caption.

46(e) Failure to follow the G Pattern penalty to be deducted from M &M caption.

46(f) All other penalties to be deducted from GE caption.

 

MAY 1994 SPEC TECH MTG. MOTION #4 (RATIFIED - 94 SBM)
  Linda Boyd moved that the 40 point penalty for not abiding by the motion made at the 1989 CBTF Fall Technical Meeting that clarifies a maximum of eleven members (9 members and 2 alternates) be declared by Provincial Team Trial date, be assessed as follows: Forty (40) points be deducted from the Gross Total Points prior to averaging scores and deducting twirling penalties.

Jennifer Meron moved that Recommendation #16 from the 94 Summer Group Commission Meeting be adopted. It reads:

We recommend that group tabulation masters be posted at every competition.

  Ron Kopas moved that a copy of the Group Tabulation Master Summary Sheet for all CBTF groups must be included in each group's result package (for the events and divisions entered) at Provincial and National Championships.

Flash Card Judging not be used for all Group Events.

  Karen Gratton proposed that the Group Tabulation Summary Masters be accepted as amended and that they be included in the CBTF Score Sheet/Tabulation/Masters Package to be distributed in the fall of 1996.

 

1997 FTM PROPOSAL #52 (Ratified - 97 FBM - Motion #22-A)
 

Sylvia Kernohan proposed that tabulation for the WBTF Events Open Competitions be as follows:

Compulsory - score normally
Freestyle - minimum one round
Pairs - one round
Teams - one round
Awards - same as open competitions

Combining Freestyle and Compulsories is optional to the competition director.

EG: They could offer:

Compulsories - place with the scores
Freestyle - place with the scores
Offer Both - combine scores for placing (ie: 25% for compulsories and 75% for Freestyle)

  Betty Davis moved that a group performing for comments only will not be included in the placing and results listing at that competition.

 

1998 FBM MOTION #21
  Betty Davis moved that the intentional use of a prop in an event other than Theme Corps will result in the group performing "for comments only".

 

1998 FBM MOTION #26
  Betty Davis moved that the G Pattern for Parade Corps remain the same. If the established pattern is not met, a 0.5 point penalty per athlete will be assessed. This will be assessed by the Penalty Judge and taken from the M & M Caption Score by tabulation to produce a final score and final place point.

 

1999 WTM PROPOSAL #8 (AMENDED - Motion #18 - 2006 FBM)
 

Sylvia Kernohan moved that all minimum scores attained at any CBTF Type A and B Sanctioned Competition will count for advancement.

Exception: All International Cup Qualifier Events.

 

2000 FTM PROPOSAL #8 (RATIFIED - 2000 FBM - MOTION #12)
 

Kristine Niskanen proposed that Recommendation #3 from the 2000 Summer Group Meeting, which reads: "That, at the conclusion of each Group Competition, Group Judges receive copies of the Group Tabulation Masters of the Group Events they judged." be accepted.

2002 SBM MOTION #5
 

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #1 of the 2002 Winter Technical Meeting which reads:

That the CBTF qualifying process to advance from Provincials to Nationals be revised to the following:

  1. Individual Athletes and Duets: The top 5 competitors from each division in the Provincial Winner/ Championship event as well as any athlete/duet who attain a minimum score of 2.5 shall qualify for Nationals.
  2. Groups: The top 10 competitors in each Provincial Winner/Championship Group event shall qualify for Nationals.

Bill Vanderboor moved that the CBTF purchase two laptop computers to use primarily for tabulation.

INTENT: To purchase used equipment to a maximum of $2000 and should run on Windows 98 or higher.

Karen Gratton moved that Proposal #1 of the 2007 Summer Technical Meeting be accepted as follows:

That 5 scoring judges are used for Group Grand Nationals to be consistent with Individual Grand Nationals plus penalty and timing judges as necessary.

Karen Gratton moved that Proposal #14 of the 2007 Summer Technical Meeting be accepted as amended (with addition of Clarification):

That all competition results are to be received by the National Data Entry Coordinator within seven (7) business days of the end of the competition. A monetary fine may be assessed by CBTF Executive.

CLARIFICATION: Results to be forwarded by the Competition Director (or designate).

Karen Gratton moved that Proposal #16 of the 2007 Summer Technical Meeting be accepted as follows:

That the rounds for the Level B Freestyle and Pairs Competition held at Canadians be changed to the following:

15 or less athletes/pairs - 1 round only
16 or more athletes/pairs - 50% shall advance to the finals.

Karen Gratton moved that Proposal #17 of the 2007 Summer Technical Meeting be accepted as follows:

That we amend motion #34, 2005 FBM (re: National Winner/Champion Individual/Duet Events) as follows:

"… 1. Divisions with more than 5 athletes shall have two rounds with the top 5 or 50% (to a maximum of 16) advancing to the final round. Divisions with 5 or less athletes shall have one round (final round)."

That flashcard scoring at Canadian Championships will be done for the following:

INTENT: Flashcards will not be used for Winner/Championship Finals, W/C Groups and all Grand National events.

To have five judges on Level B Freestyle and Pair Panels at Canadians so that the high and low scores are dropped.

Karen Gratton moved that Proposal #1 from the March 7, 2009 Technical Committee Conference Call meeting be accepted as follows:

That the 15 B Compulsories be split into two Sets - Set A and Set B - using the same compulsory set numbers as for the Level A Compulsories. The Set Letter must be announced at least two weeks prior to the competition.

CLARIFICATION: The short explanation title for each compulsory shall be called by the announcer. Example: "Compulsory #1, RH Vertical Fingertwirls, Begin".

CLARIFICATION: Open competitions and Provincial team trials have the option to choose one Set, use the 15 compulsories (in numerical order) or have the athletes perform first Set A followed immediately by Set B.

CLARIFICATION: The Set Numbers are as follows: Set A - 1,4,6,8,9,11,14,15 Set B - 2,3,5,7,10,12,13,14

Karen Gratton moved to accept Proposal #2 from the March 8/09 Technical Committee Conference Call meeting as follows:

That, if there are 40 or more athletes in a Level B Junior or Senior Compulsory, Freestyle or Pair event at Provincials or Canadians, by using the WBTF Age Definition (ie: age between Jan 1 and Dec 31 of the competition year), the athletes in those events shall be divided into age divisions as follows:

Junior: 4-12, 13-14, 15-16
Senior: 17-18, 19-20, 21+

CLARIFICATION: The current Level B rules regarding rounds based on number of entries and number of judges shall be followed.

CLARIFICATION: there shall only be one round for Compulsories with 2 judges per age division.
