Meet Canada’s 2010 World Contingent athletes!

  • Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Levels
  • Aerials, Rolls, Contact, Horizontals, Multiple Baton, Compulsories, Short Program Elements
  • Parents are welcome to attend (Observation Fee applies). Seating will be provided in the bleachers.

Deardra Leslie

  • Has studied Baton Twirling, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Musical Comedy, Ethnic, Celtic, Hip Hop, Piano, Art, Vocal, Drama, Modelling and Speech Arts as an athlete, performer, judge, coach, and choreographer since the age of 4
  • Honoured in many fields:
    • Ontario Sports Federation Lifetime Achievement
    • Canadian Dance Teachers Association Lifetime Achievement
    • Recipient of unique Choreography Awards from Prima Ballerina Veronica Tennant and Patsy Swayze
    • Canada's judge for World IDO Showdance and Tap Dance Championship, Germany
    • CBTF Judge -- 40 years
    • CBTF Coach -- 40 years
    • also an NBTA, IBTA and TU teacher and judge
  • Deardra is especially looking forward to teaching at this special clinic for CBTF, sharing creative ideas, and enjoying the talent in Canada!

Loranne Meek

  • During her competitive career she was the 1983 and 1985 Grand National 2-Baton Championship and was also a member of the 1986 World Silver Medalist Team.
  • Loranne has coached many Canadian National Champions and in 2004 travelled to Lausanne, Switzerland to teach athletes on the Swiss National Team.
  • Loranne is a CBTF Level 3 Certified Coach, NCCP II Certified Coach, a Module 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 CBTF Certified Judge, Skills Development Adjudicator and Course Conductor for the CBTF SDP Program and the Level 2 Coaching Course.

Stacy Singer

  • One of Canada's most decorated world-level athletes:
    • 7-time World Champion: 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 (Junior Women) and 1993 (Senior Women)
    • 3-time Canadian Junior Athlete of the Year (The Elaine Tanner Award): 1985, 1989, 1990)
  • Has taught at clinics in: France, Australia, Japan, Canada, Spain, Scotland, the Netherlands and England
  • Holds a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. from the University of Regina

Leisha Strachan

  • 18 years as a coach and 10 years as a judge
  • 1994 Canadian Sr. Freestyle Gold and 6th that year in Freestyle at Worlds
  • 2-time pairs World bronze medal with Kristin Macaraeg
  • Profession in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba
