As part of the athlete accreditation process, the WBTF requires that all athletes provide a Health Certificate indicating they are in generally good and is fit to compete.

The official CBTF Health Certificate is attached. It must be completed and signed by a physician. The original should be returned to Steve Kopas, Contingent Manager, no later than July 9.

Consistent with the 2011 WBTF rule changes to include drop penalties for the Freestyle, Pair and Team events, that the CBTF adopted at its 2011 Fall Board Meeting, CBTF Competition Directors shall now include a deduction for drop penalties in those events.

March 30, 2012 - Rental requests for paid practice gym time are now being accepted by the 2012 Canadians Organizing Committee.

Five gyms are available between the hours of 5:00 and 10:00 pm on Thursday July 5th.

The map below shows the relative locations of the 2012 Canadians competition venue (University of Regina, Kinesiology Building) and the nearby host hotel.

The Information Package and Entry Form for the 2012 Canadian Winner/Championships is attached.

A few details to note:

Steve Kopas, Contingent Manager, needs to collect some personal and health information from all athletes so he can better serve the needs of the Contingent members.

All members of the CBTF World Championships Contingent (athletes, coaches, judges, officials) are ambassadors for Baton Twirling in Canada and of the CBTF. This privilege is accompanied by certain expectations and responsibilities, as outlined in the attached Code of Conduct.

Canadian World Championship Athletes will participate in the Team Canada Secret Pal Exchange!

The Secret Pal Exchange will run from July 29 through August 5. On the final day, as part of the Wrap-Up Event, everyone will try and guess who their Secret Pal was.

Special bonus for those athletes who will be coming to beautiful Ontario in May for the Canadian Team Trials and Trillium Invitational.

As you would have seen on the entry forms, the gym fee for Trillium is $10 and the gym fee for Team Trials is $20.

March 20, 2012 - The commitment and contributions of Baton Twirling's volunteers will once again be demonstrated at the 2011 Ontario Sport Awards. Michelle Bretherick has has selected as an award recipient for the Syl Apps Volunteer Achievement Award. The award will be presented on April 19 at the 2011 Ontario Sports Awards Ceremony.

March 18, 2011 - Four CBTF athletes were invited to compete at the recent Congressional Cup 2012 Invitational competition held at Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

March 15, 2012 - All paid practice requests for the Main Gym and Practice Gym in the 4:30 - 9:30 pm block have been processed and there is no further availability. The schedule will be published on the website.

The request form for additional Gym Rental time (available to Clubs, Teams or Individuals) is attached.

March 11, 2012 - One year after the powerful earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan, the region continues its recovery. The earthquake, which measured magnitude 9.0, occurred at 2:46 pm local time had an epicenter approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) east of the Oshika Peninsula of Tōhoku.

March 9, 2012 - The Canadian Baton Twirling Federation (CBTF) today issued a Technical Directive intended to provide its interpretation of the WBTF-WDSF Athlete Code of Conduct and how that Code may impact its athletes.
