2011 Judge Selection Process

As approved by the CBTF Board of Directors at the 2010 Fall Board Meeting, the Judge Selection Process has been modified and streamlined. Among the significant changes:

  • The CBTF Executive appoints a Selection Committee - the CBTF Technical Chair, CBTF Coaches Rep and CBTF Judges Rep are automatically voting members of this Committee. The CBTF President is also a member of this Committee, but in a non-voting role.
  • This single Selection Committee will select judges for the following 2011 National and International competitions:
    • International Cup (Jacksonville, Florida)
    • Canadian International Cup Qualifier (Calgary, Alberta)
    • Canadian Winner/Championships and Open Competition (Winnipeg, Manitoba)
  • Applicants will be assessed by the 2011 National Judges Selection Committee on three attributes:
    • Judging experience
    • A practical assignment
    • Other qualities (e.g, contributions to the sport in terms of leadership/volunteerism as well as personal growth and development in baton and related disciplines)

CBTF Judges with any of the following certifications are now invited to apply:

  • Module 2
  • Module 3 & 4 (old course) or Module 3 (new course-effective Jan/10)
  • Module 5 and/or Masters Judges

The Application Package, which includes the Application Form and describes the Selection Process in greater detail, is available on the website, in the Document Library. Judges must use their CBTF.CA username to access this area of the website.

Completed applications must be received by December 31, 2010.

2011 Score Sheet CD

A number of changes were proposed by the Technical Committee at the 2010 Fall Technical Meeting. Based on the changes approved at the 2010 Fall Board Meeting, changes to many of the CBTF Score Sheets and Penalty Sheets were required. An updated CBTF Competition Score Sheet CD is now available on the website.

Score Sheets and Penalty Sheets can be downloaded individually. However, with the large number of changes all Competition Directors are encouraged to download the entire package to ensure they have the most recent versions of all competition paperwork.

The events affected are:

  • All group events: the Primary age division can be offered at Open and Provincial-level competitions
  • Pom Pom Team: this is now a fully-recognized Minor Event
  • Theme Production: The caption scores have changed, along with the Penalty Sheet
  • Medley: The score sheet has been updated to re-emphasize the the event focus
  • All Pre-Events: A General Mechanics section has been added to the Critique Sheets.

The Group Declaration Form has also been updated and is available from the Document Library.
